May 11, 2022The Delaware Network for Excellence in Autism (DNEA), housed at UD’s Center for Disabilities Studies, offers training and technical assistance that benefits individuals with autism, their families, and the professionals who serve them. We are pleased to announce our winter statewide virtual training schedule designed to introduce participants to the core characteristics of autism and practices that provide support in a variety of settings.
Introduction to Visual Supports will provide an overview of the evidence-based practice of visual supports for individuals with autism. Participants will learn about the four different types of visual supports - schedules, cues, boundaries, and timers - and evidence-based practices for introducing these supports to individuals with autism. Participants should have a foundational understanding of autism and/or previously attended Introduction to Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Participants will be emailed log-in information and training details approximately 48 hours before the training date. Please check the email you used to register and/or your JUNK mail if you do not find the confirmation in your inbox. Participants will be emailed a certificate of attendance approximately two weeks post training.

May 25, 2022The Delaware Network for Excellence in Autism (DNEA), housed at UD’s Center for Disabilities Studies, offers training and technical assistance that benefits individuals with autism, their families, and the professionals who serve them. We are pleased to announce our winter statewide virtual training schedule designed to introduce participants to the core characteristics of autism and practices that provide support in a variety of settings.
Autism Spectrum Disorder and Mental Health will provide participants with an introductory understanding of autism spectrum disorder and commonly-occurring mental health diagnoses. Participants will review the core characteristics of autism; learn about prevalence and presentation, and be introduced to evidence-based resources that can be used to support individuals with autism who have co-occurring mental health needs. Participants should have a foundational understanding of autism and/or previously attended Introduction to Autism Spectrum Disorder.
This training will review the core characteristics of autism, the prevalence of frequently occurring mental health diagnoses, how core characteristics of autism increase an individual's susceptibility to mental health disorders, and the factors that influence co-morbid mental health disorders.
