11:00 am: Planning the Perfect Summer: Supporting Your Child During New Activities and Special Events11:00 am: Planning the Perfect Summer: Supporting Your Child During New Activities and Special Events – The Delaware Network for Excellence in Autism (DNEA), housed at UD’s Center for Disabilities Studies, offers training and technical assistance that benefits individuals with autism, their families, and the professionals who serve them. We are pleased to announce our statewide virtual training schedule designed to introduce participants to the core characteristics of autism and practices that provide support in a variety of settings. While the summer can be fun and exciting, it can also be difficult for youth with autism, and other developmental or intellectual disabilities. This workshop, presented to you by the DNEA, will review why the summer and its special events can be particularly challenging for children with disabilities and their families or caregivers. We also present strategies that can assist in preparing for special or new events while reducing stress and challenging behaviors. Participants will be emailed log-in information and training details approximately 48 hours before the training date. Please check the email you used to register and/or your JUNK mail if you do not find the confirmation in your inbox. Participants will be emailed a certificate of attendance approximately two weeks post training. Seating is reserved for Delaware residents and Delaware professionals. The DNEA reserves the right to cancel training if the minimum threshold for attendance is not reached. Please email Nicole Garrity at garrityn@udel.edu for any accommodation requests. Please submit any accommodation requests at least 72 hours in advance in order to ensure accommodations can be coordinated and provided. |

11:00 am: SOCIAL SKILLS INSTRUCTION FOR AUTISM11:00 am: SOCIAL SKILLS INSTRUCTION FOR AUTISM – The Delaware Network for Excellence in Autism (DNEA), housed at UD’s Center for Disabilities Studies, offers training and technical assistance that benefits individuals with autism, their families, and the professionals who serve them. We are pleased to announce our statewide virtual training schedule designed to introduce participants to the core characteristics of autism and practices that provide support in a variety of settings. DNEA Intermediate and Advanced Training Content is designed for individuals who have attended Introduction to Autism and Introduction to Evidence-Based Practices or have a similar foundational knowledge. These trainings are often discipline-specific and will address more advanced evidence-based practices and supports. Brought to you by the Delaware Network for Excellence in Autism (DNEA), this social skills instruction training discusses how social skills are developed and how that development can look different for individuals with autism. The training considers ways of assessing social skills, skills to target, and explores evidence-based strategies that can support autistic individuals. 9:00 am: Understanding Autism and Strategies for Child Care Providers9:00 am: Understanding Autism and Strategies for Child Care Providers – The Delaware Network for Excellence in Autism (DNEA), housed at UD’s Center for Disabilities Studies, offers training and technical assistance that benefits individuals with autism, their families, and the professionals who serve them. We are pleased to announce our statewide virtual training schedule designed to introduce participants to the core characteristics of autism and practices that provide support in a variety of settings. This training was developed by the Delaware Network for Excellence in Autism for early childhood care providers. The training is designed to develop an understanding of autism and how it impacts children differently. In addition, the training provides strategies to support young children with autism in a childcare setting. Please note: There are two ways to attend the Understanding Autism and Strategies for Child Care Providers; please select one option: 1) Register through DIEEC to obtain Continuing Education Credits If you would like to receive STARS continuing education credits through DIEEC, please go to the DIEEC training calendar and search “Understanding Autism and Strategies for Child Care Providers” OR 2) Register through Eventbrite to obtain a DNEA certificate of attendance. If you do not have an account with DIEEC or do not wish to receive continuing education credits, you may register through our Eventbrite page.
