The Delaware Network for Excellence in Autism (DNEA), housed at UD’s Center for Disabilities Studies, offers training and technical assistance that benefits individuals with autism, their families, and the professionals who serve them. Introduction to Evidence-Based Practices for Individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder will provide an overview of the evidence-based practices that are most effective when supporting individuals with autism of all ages. This training will review the core characteristics of autism and introduce three evidence-based practices: visual supports, prompting, and reinforcement.

Participants will be emailed log-in information and training details approximately 48 hours before the training date. Please check the email you used to register and/or your JUNK mail if you do not find the confirmation in your inbox. Participants will be emailed a certificate of attendance approximately two weeks post training.

Seating is reserved for Delaware residents and Delaware professionals. Please email Alisha Fletcher at dnea-info@udel.edu for any accommodation requests.

9:00 am: Autism Spectrum Disorder & Mental Health

August 10, 2022

The Delaware Network for Excellence in Autism (DNEA), housed at UD’s Center for Disabilities Studies, offers training and technical assistance that benefits individuals with autism, their families, and the professionals who serve them. We are pleased to announce our winter statewide virtual training schedule designed to introduce participants to the core characteristics of autism and practices that provide support in a variety of settings.

Autism Spectrum Disorder and Mental Health will provide participants with an introductory understanding of autism spectrum disorder and commonly-occurring mental health diagnoses. Participants will review the core characteristics of autism; learn about prevalence and presentation, and be introduced to evidence-based resources that can be used to support individuals with autism who have co-occurring mental health needs. Participants should have a foundational understanding of autism and/or previously attended Introduction to Autism Spectrum Disorder.

This training will review the core characteristics of autism, the prevalence of frequently occurring mental health diagnoses, how core characteristics of autism increase an individual's susceptibility to mental health disorders, and the factors that influence co-morbid mental health disorders.
